Summary:
Urban noise is one of the main problem reported by citizens and the World Health Organization has repeatedly pointed out the health risks associated with exposure to noise. \nIn order to reduce the road traffic noise the new LIFE NEREiDE project started in August 2016 evaluates the performance of new porous asphalt pavements composed by recycled asphalt pavements and crumb rubber from End-of-Life tires. \nAccording to the program of the NEREiDE LIFE project, a psycho-acoustical monitoring campaign and a social survey have been carried out in the Municipality of Massarosa (Italy) before laying the new road pavement with high acoustical absorption property in order to have a psycho-acoustical fingerprint ante operam. \nThis paper describes the methodology adopted and the result obtained by the analysis both of the of binaural recordings of the traffic noise along the road and the responses to a questionnaire delivered to the inhabitants, in six different measurement sites.\nFurthermore the level of annoyance reported by the citizens has been compared with that defined in literature for the same traffic rate and levels. \nThe delivering adopted method allows to get around the 40% of the returned compiled questionnaires against a traditional 30%.\nBinaural recording has been analyzed using a proper psycho-acoustical indicator while it has been used different statistical analysis methods for the responses of the citizen. \nThe parameters selected from the two analyses are used as ante operam fingerprint that will be compared with the next post operam fingerprint.
