ISO 354 „Measurement of sound absorption in a reverberation room“ describes the sound absorption of single objects such as furniture by the equivalent sound absorption area AObj. For the use in acoustical simulation software the sound absorption coefficient of surfaces is required as all objects are usually defined or modelled by plane surfaces. A unified procedure for the conversion of the equivalent sound absorption area AObj to a sound absorption coefficient for the models of objects does not exist so far. With this contribution a corresponding procedure will be proposed and demonstrated by some examples.
