With the increase of the elderly population and the change of the traditional family structure in China, the demand for the elderly is increasing. China from the last century at the end of 90s has entered the aging society for nearly twenty years, in the field of architectural design and theory research, mostly stay in the feature set for pension institutions and barrier free facilities, space design research from the auditory perception layer use the main building of the elderly less. As the elderly increase with age, the auditory perception ability decreases, which will affect the mental, physiological and quality of life of the elderly. At present, most of the research on acoustic environment of pension institutions is aimed at optimization and transformation of completed projects. However, there are few researches on determining the size and spatial form of elderly people in the design stage based on the elderly's voice comfort.This paper focuses on the relationship between acoustic comfort and space area, with large pension institutions catering space as the research object, using the method of subjective evaluation of acoustic comfort and field measurements combined with statistical software SPSS, the user comfortable dining space acoustic background noise sound pressure level corresponding to the threshold; the results show that the background noise level with the flow of people dining space has a strong correlation, using the SPSS software to get the dining space and background noise in subjective comfort for people flow threshold acceptance and finally obtains the user in the acoustic comfort for pension institutions catering space area threshold when receiving the best.
