The current ISO 12354:2017 standard provides new tools for the acoustic design of timber buildings. In particular, it introduces new prediction formulas for estimating the vibration reduction index (Kij) of junctions made of CLT elements and specific tools for the behaviour of the lightweight structural elements. The new calculation model proposed by the ISO 12354:2017 was applied in the case of a big timber construction with CLT structure and lightweight multi-layer walls located in Graz. The contribution reports the results obtained by comparing the results calculated according to the standard with the available experimental data collected during measurement activities in situ. The measurements regarded sound insulation between dwellings including the evaluation of the flanking transmission in the bare structure and in the finished structure through vibration velocity measurements. In addition, this research investigates the incidence of the flanking transmission on the estimation of acoustic performance of CLT buildings.
